Proctitis
SYMPTOMS. Signs include repeated urge for bowel movement, rectal discomfort,
painful diarrhea and pus, blood and mucus in stools.
CAUSES are most commonly by intestinal disorders of regional enteritis and
ulcerative colitis and may also involve infection, injury or some drugs. It
is an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining in the rectum.
TREATMENT. Underlying cause must be treated. Medication may be prescribed.
